The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Stergomena Tax graced the colorful event held in Windhoek and attended by Namibia's Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah and the Tanzania High Commissioner to Namibia Dr. Modestus Kipilimba.

Dr. Tax also explained that Tanzania being the mother of the Kiswahili Language, deliberate efforts are being made to ensure Kiswahili is announced and spread rapidly through its high commission, international universities and various international platforms.
“At this time when the Government of Tanzania and Namibia are negotiating for the Kiswahili language to be part of the language of choice in Namibian schools, the High Commission has opened a small library with books and magazines in Kiswahili for people who are interested in learning Kiswahili to come and study, “said Dr. Tax
Hon. Netumbo in her speech explained that currently the two countries have High Commissions in major cities with the aim of promoting and strengthening cooperation between the countries and their people. Likewise, he congratulated the High Commision of Tanzania in Namibia, Hon. Dr. Modestus Kipilimba for choosing a quality and modern building for the High Commission offices which is environmentally friendly. “Tanzania, being a champion of the African continent and Southern Africa, has always been with us and so when we Namibians come to study and do research in this Kiswahili library that opens today, we will be in a safe environment,'' said Hon.
On the same day, Minister Tax had a conversation with the leaders of the Tanzanian Community living in Namibia. Among other things, Hon. Minister urged them to continue being good ambassadors of Tanzania while they are abroad as well as to continue with the registration exercise that is held for Tanzanians with various professions who are abroad so that they can be recognized and help their country in those professions when they are needed.
