Tanzania High Commission in Namibia Hosts Prof. Esther Daniel Mwaikambo.
On 22 September 2026, the Tanzania High Commission in Windhoek was honoured to receive Prof. Esther Daniel Mwaikambo, one of Tanzania's distinguished medical academics and paediatrician.
Prof. Mwaikambo is recognized for her outstanding contributions to paediatrics, medical education, research and scientific development in Tanzania. She is the founder of the Medical Women Association of Tanzania (MEWATA) and a founding member and formal President of the Tanzania Academy of Sciences (TAAS). She also served as Vice Chancellor of Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU), Chairperson of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), and Chairperson of the Board of the Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA). In addition, she has played significant roles in Tanzania's polio eradication and certification efforts.
Her remarkable contributions have received International recognition, including her election as an International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2018.
